Irving Michaelson has an unhealthy obsession with Beyonce, Terry's chocolate oranges, and comics. He believes that Netflix is his savior when the occasional slow night at the station happens, his partner at work is also his 'partner in crime', on his nights off he likes to drink (and has allegedly, drunkenly recited poetry and sonnets for the entire bar), and he's a hopeless romantic that hasn't had much experience with relationships. Irving Michaelson is, without a doubt, a very unusual guy, but he has no desire to change. He's serious when he needs to be, immature the rest of the time, and a fool most all of the time.
○ In the sumer of '82, Theodore and Amelia welcomed the birth of their first child, Irving. A full head of wavy brunette locks and deep blue eyes that the couple often found themselves getting lost in, Irving was the epitome of perfection in his parent's eyes.

○ Though Irving was complacent with being the apple of his parent's eyes, it wasn't lost on the two of them that Irving was socially awkward and thought if they were going to help their son prosper in life, that a sibling would ultimately benefit. Of course, it wasn't just solely wanting a friend for their son, they wanted their family to grow. It was both of their life aspirations to have a large family, but they gave them some time between Irving in their second child.

○ The arrival of his baby sister, Francis, was the best decision the two parents made (other than giving birth to Irv). Immediately Irving stepped in the role of the 'protector' and would listen closely for the crying out of his infant sister and rush to her side to make sure she was okay. Despite the slight age difference, the two got on famously. Two years later, the last two children of the Michaelson family would be born.

○ As the eldest of the Michaelson brood, there was a certain sense of responsibility that came with the role and most of the time Irving could be considered a role model for his younger siblings, but he still was of adolescence and succumbed easily to the wims of his mates; often resulting in a phone call from a teacher, another parent, or being caught at home doing something stupid.

○ While Irving kept his grades up during secondary school, he wasn't one for extracurriculars and the like. The most he had gone out for was drama, specifically the spring musical during year 10 that he absolutely made a fool of himself in and chose never to attempt again. After that awful experience, he stuck to his academic strengths and graduated in to the top ten percent of his class.

○ With many internal back and forths, Irving had made the decision to apply to a few overseas schools in the states - he had no real major in mind, but choose a different one for each school that he applied for. Wanting to experience not only the best education he could, but wanting to be able to emerse himself in a diverse culture, the choice to study abroad at NYU was a no-brainer.

○ Aside from the occasional trip to visit family and vacation, Irving saw no reason to go anywhere else. He loved New York; he loved the culture, the people, the food, and the nightlife. Though once he began working full-time, he saw that particular nightlife less and less. But he found the more he loved his job, working as an trauma nurse in the local hospital ER, the more he really didn't seem to mind.

○ Shortly after his 26th birthday, Irving had found himself in a relationship; she was beautiful and kindhearted, intelligent and found humour in most everything. By Christmas after he turned 28, he found himself on one knee proposing. Much to his delight, she said 'yes' and the two began planning the nuptials with enthusiasm. They were to be married within four months, but on the night before their wedding, Irving found a letter on his pillow.

○ After his fiancee confessed to no longer wanting to be with him, he sought after change and as much as he could. He was heartbroken and alone in the united states; he was doing the same thing every day and realizing he was going through the motions. After a discussion with his co-workers, and his confession to not wanting to leave the medical field, per se, someone suggested he looked into becoming a paramedic. It would be a step backwards, but it would be a change that he needed.

○ Irving challenged the state to allow him to take the Paramedic test, seeing as he had the experience in the ER, and was requested that in order to take it he'd have to take a two month course and then the test. Eager and willing, he started immediately and breezed through the coursework as he assumed he would. The workload varied, but occasionally he could consider them to be sort of in line with one another. And the best part, was that he was still able to see his former co-worker and manage to keep his job at the hospita per diem.
